On the first day of 2022, I'd like to wish everyone a very Happy New Year. 2021 was a challenging year as we fought to break free from Covid-19 and get back to normality. As we know, this wretched virus has not gone away, however, we are learning to live with it and there is no better way to do that than to continue to get vaccinated. It would really be the best way to start the new year and vaccination sites are open across the borough. A huge thank you must also go to the army of NHS staff and volunteers across all of Bolton who have made it possible.
Putting coronavirus to one side, there is a huge amount for Bolton to look forward to this year; with huge regeneration schemes in the town centre starting, a new pocket park, and regeneration works in nearly all parts of the centre. We have schemes kicking off in Farnworth, Westhougton, and Little Lever, in addition to a new health centre for Horwich as well as the Bolton College of Medical Science on the Royal Bolton Hospital site.
The last two years have felt as though this pandemic will never be over, though it won’t last forever, the end is in sight and there are huge opportunities for our town to grasp in the coming year.
Good luck to you and your family in 2022. Let's make this year, Bolton's year.
